The first relatively successful home-use machine. The Oliver 3 was first produced in 1898 while at the same time an identical Oliver 4 was produced with foreign keyboards for the export market. With its unusual u-shaped type bars that swing down from both sides, the Oliver has considerable "striking power" that made it the preference of companies for stencil making. Very similar to the No. 2, the No. 3 models are clearly labeled with their model number on the front lower body of the frame.
